Please do not post in this topic for help, only for questions concerning my setup. Create a new thread if you require assistance.** These settings are up-to-date as of 08-19-10. Check latest reply for changes. **** I NO LONGER USE VH MULTI CAMERA STUDIO. I CURRENTLY PAY FOR XSPLIT SOFTWARE (6-15-11) **SETTINGS FOR: Xbox 360, Blackmagic Media Express, Blackmagic Control PanelMake sure your 360 display settings match what you select in Media Express, otherwise you won't get any picture. Also make sure you have the correct input/output on the control panel window selected, which can be found as Blackmagic Control Panel under Windows' Control Panel.
SETTINGS FOR: VH Multi Camera StudioThis is used so I'm able to broadcast in near-HD resolution rather than using a converted-to-SD resolution (found in input processing as anamorphic or letterbox). Just go to File > Add camera... > Decklink Video Capture. This program is packaged and installed with VHScrCap: www.splitmedialabs.com/downloadResolution: 640x480 (cropped black bars in FMLE) Frame Rate: 29.97 fps IMPORTANT: You must turn the first two options on everytime you open this program in order for it to work with FMLE.vvvvv
SETTINGS FOR: Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder 3.1 (screenshot is from 2.5 but settings are essentially the same) Very important to have 29.97 for frame rate if you're directly using the card on this program (requires anamorphic or letterbox conversion in input processing for Blackmagic Control Panel), rather than using VH Multi Camera Studio like I am. If you are directly using BMIP to FMLE, be sure to turn on deinterlacing. Output is 640x360 because that's about how big JTV's default player is. FMLE uses up a lot of computer resources. For better performance, try using FMLE command prompt. Can be found in the FMLE folder as FMLEcmd.exe or something similar. It will automatically start broadcasting using the last used/saved profile.
SETTINGS FOR: HT OMEGA STRIKER 7.1 Sound Mixer (this is a sound card)This acts as my mixer, Stereo Mix allows me to broadcast both my mic, computer, and line in (console sound). Audio cables must be split to an adapter that plugs into your sound card because you cannot broadcast using BMIP's audio.

I don't understand, I hooked everything up accordingly.
I set the settings exactly the same, and I started it up. The result is the same, ominous black screen!
I don't know if it has to do with my particular monitor, maybe it's because I'm using this monitor for the PC aswell as the Xbox 360 simultaneously.
This monitor allows me to switch between connections (depending on what is in it).
I switch from my DVI (PC screen), to the HDMI (output from BMI) and it's a bright black screen, it isn't a black "turned off" screen, just it's a bright black screen just sitting there.
Any idea what might be the problem?

NEVERMIND! Sweet victory, I got it working! Turns out I didn't have my components set to 720p (the only way I could check is by going downstairs hooking it up to the 64" because my monitor is HDMI only lol). My laziness caused this panic, if I would have just checked and not assumed this panic could have been avoided. Sorry for the hassle, and I truly appreciate the help you did provide me with. I was curious however, how would I go about recording in 1080i?! Take it a step up in quality, I hear I need some sort of RAID setup (WARNING: I'm an extreme amateur when it comes to RAID so please excuse my ignorance). I was informed that a RAID 0 would be best for my situation however it depends on the capturing, output, input, all this other crap that basically translates into "brsuiydvcisyv" on my part lol. I plan on purchasing two terrabyte harddrives come Christmas time, how would I go about setting these two harddrives for RAID, and do you have any recommendations as far as harddrives go? I hear there are some designed specifically for RAID but I'm assuming these cost close to a fortune (around $200 bucks). I'm looking to spend a maximum of 110 bucks EACH, anything below that would be wonderful aswell. Thanks in advance!

Took off your bolding. Got hard on the eyes.
Not sure about hard drives, sorry. As for 1080, not sure. If you're planning to just use Blackmagic Media Express, just change the setting to 1080i 50p or something, then make sure your console is set to 1080i as well.

Alright, im just wondering, what makes the difference between 30 fps and 29.97.? If you're talking about with the BMIP, it only accepts 29.97. Otherwise it won't work. But technically speaking, I actually don't know. I'm sure it doesn't make a huge difference though.

What is your upload speed Moogle? I tried a test broadcast on my PC and the picture quality is crap because of my upload speed. I have to limit my broadcast to 350K.

How to you ...connect it? Are you playing on a TV or your computer screen?

I'm gonna make a guess and say both. The distinction between a TV screen and a computer monitor is almost hard to tell in modern display screens. You can use cable splitters to gain more flexibility on your connectivity.

I wanna use a dazzle...but if I want to use my MIC i need to use a mixer...and get splitters and then I can't play with my HDMI cable..and my computer isn't suited to use a intensity pro...
Why does broadcasting have to cost so much money?! I need a job, quick Batman, TO GOOGLE!

Hello there. I am posting to ask for some possible help with a small problem I am having when using the BMIP. I just recieved my card a few days ago and after MUCH trail and error i was able to get it to work as it should to record. However, I got the card to broadcast. So I followed all the directions that you posted and set all options to your setup but with no success. Well, its not a complete failure except I cant have a half decent broadcast. I have managed to get a video feed to FMI strait from the capture card but when I try to broadcast, on my stream, It doesnt show anything but a black screen even though the video feed does show in the input/output window of FMI. I just dont know what im doing wrong there. Im pretty sure this situation can be corrected with some adjusting, i know, but what I really need help Is setting up a 1280/720 stream using VH Multi cam. Alright, I Have D/L the program and set the resolution to 1280:720 HDTV and also set the frame rate to 29.97. Then I go to file / add camera / deck link video capture. Just like you mentioned but all I get is a Black video feed. Also set the BMI control panel and set it exactly to the way you have it and still BLACK on VHMC. I just dont understand whats wrong. Although, when I go to BMI control panel and set the input to 720 letterbox and then try VHMC it works. I actually get a video feed. But doesnt that defeat the whole purpose of using VHMC to stream in super hiqh quality?!?! So then I go back to the control panel to set the Input to OFF and retry VHMC and go back the that dam black screen!!!! Pls. can anyone tell me what i can possibly do to fix that so I can stream in super HD. also maybe some help with FMI. thx. Please create a new thread. I quoted it here so you can copy and paste it.

Changes 08-19-10:
- Now using FMLE 3.1, but gonna keep 2.5 screenshot since settings are the same. - Moved VH Multi Cam section above FMLE, so the "cropping" will make more sense at first.
